NFB'S 2009 CONVENTION, MARCH FOR INDEPENDANCE 7.6.09

If you were just an average citizen of Detroit, going about your business in the downtown area on July 6th, you might be a little shocked to see yourself surrounded by three thousand blind people.   Canes and dogs helped navigate these proud, blind individuals through the annual NFB Convention March for Independance.

In my case, as the director/producer of the film Can You See How I See?, it’s just plain wonderful.

It was an inspirational demonstration of independence as blind individuals congregated in the morning sun outside the Renaissance Center.  These photos chronicle the march rout and high spirits of participants.

It was a wonderful time for me to catch up with old friends like Capt. Ivan Castro, Jordan Castor, George and Fred Wurtzel and making many new ones.

Our film continues to grow.
